Senior Annabelle Stoker recently watched “Jojo Rabbit.”
“Jojo Rabbit” follows a young German boy during World War II. When the boy discovers that his mother has been hiding a Jewish girl in their attic, he is forced to confront his own sense of nationalism alongside his imaginary friend, Adolf Hitler.
The film stars Roman Griffin Davis as young Jojo Betzler and Taika Waititi, the film’s director, as Adolf Hitler.
What did you enjoy about this film?
“I really enjoyed how the creators contrasted the bright colors and perspective of the kid against the real historical world war,” Stoker said.
What motivated you to watch this film?
“I watched this movie with my family because I’ve always been a fan of Waititi’s movies,” Stoker said. “I also love learning about World War II.”
What was the most memorable part of this film?
“The most memorable part is probably the end when two kids who are taught to hate each other dance and realize they aren’t different,” Stoker said.
How is this film different from others that you have watched?
“This movie is shockingly sad when you don’t expect it to be with all the comedic moments and bright colors,” Stoker said. “Most war movies you expect to be sad, but not this one.”
What other films similar to this one would you recommend?
“’The Boy in the Striped Pajamas’,” Stoker said.
