Junior Sophie Thomsen is currently listening to “Rêver éveillé” by Claude Bégin and Claudia Bouvette.
“This song is one of my favorites in the 2024 Manie Musicale from French class,” Thomsen said. “The aesthetic of the music video and the general vibe is amazing.”
“Rêver éveillé” means “dreaming awake.” Just like the theme of the song, the sound of it is ethereal. The two artists cooperate in expressing the feelings of a genuine romantic with affirmations of love and fantasy throughout. There are both French and English lyrics.
Claude Bégin and Claudia Bouvette are Canadian pop artists new to the Manie Musicale founded in 2017. Claude Bégin sings exclusively in French and his albums include “Bleu nuit” and “Les magiciens.” Claudia Bouvette sings in both French and English in her only album “The Paradise Club.”
“I don’t know too much about these artists since I learned about this song from French class,” Thomsen said. “But both [their] voices are beautiful.”
