Junior Alexandra Bowe has currently been listening to “bittersweet” by Madison Beer.
“I really like the beat of it,” Bowe said, “and the vibe of the song.”

The song is about the different feelings when leaving one chapter of your life and moving onto the next, specifically in a relationship. Her lyrics discuss the thought process after a breakup when it is sad but also good to move on like in the lyrics, “I know I should be bitter, but baby, right now I’m bittersweet.” The song’s structure starts with soft verses with a growing drum and synthesizer beat through the pre-chorus until the beat drops at the beginning of the chorus becoming louder and stronger along with the lyrics.
This song is a mix of alternative and synth-pop like many of her other songs by being a primarily pop artist. In her music video for “bittersweet,” Madison Beer is joined by Sean Kaufman who plays her ex-boyfriend. Doing this brings more emotional depth, storytelling and a cinematic style to its original recording.
“I think the lyrics are interesting [with the topic] of getting over heartbreak,” Bowe said.
Madison Beer is an American singer-songwriter who started out as a teenage YouTuber and now has over 27 singles and two albums. “Bittersweet” will be included as the eighth track on her upcoming album “Locket” which will be released on January 16, 2026.
