Geometry and advanced algebra teacher Nick Castagna has recently been listening to “TiK ToK” by Kesha.

“For some reason my girls really love that song, and they call it the wake up song ’cause that’s the first two words,” Castagna said. “It’s just an upbeat song they dance to.”
“TiK ToK” was released as the lead single on Kesha’s first studio album, “Animal.” As of recently, Kesha has performed the very first lyrics of the song “Wake up in the morning feeling like P. Diddy” alternatively. This change came after lawsuits filed against Sean Combs, otherwise known as P. Diddy, for abuse and rape. The song has remained one of Kesha’s most popular songs since its release.
Kesha’s “TiK ToK” illustrates an exciting late-night out. Kesha sings, “the party don’t start ’til I walk in” as the song follows her partying all the way to sunrise. The song’s electro-pop instrumental and stylized vocals vividly portray the image of the party described in the lyrics. The song’s title imitates the sound of a clock ticking as time passes. “TiK ToK” encourages listeners to go out and have fun, no matter what kind of lifestyle you have.
Kesha is a 38 –old American artist whose career took off in the early 2010s with “Animal.” She is most known for other songs like “Die Young,” “Blow,” and “Cannibal.” Kesha Rose Sebert originally performed under the name Ke$ha, but she changed her alias to her birth name after she went to rehab for an eating disorder. Her most recent album “.” released on July 4, 2025, coming a year after the release of “Joyride,” which she produced under a new label.
“Anybody who’s looking to just be happy for a couple minutes [would like this], ’cause it’s just an upbeat song,” Castagna said. “Don’t listen to it in school. It’s not the most school-appropriate song.”
