When one is in love they are just absolutely captivated by their lover, even from just a glance of their eyes. However, their love may not always seem to be true. Well-known Swedish pop band ABBA, from the late 70s, executed this theme well in their hit “Angel Eyes.”

“Angel Eyes” is a hit single from ABBA’s 54-minute album “Voulez-Vous.” It was written by members Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus and released in 1979. With lead singers Agnetha Fältskog and Anni-Frid Lyngstad, the song quickly rose to No. 3 in the UK.

The song is about the alluring captivity a man may have on a woman with even just a glance of his hypnotizing eyes. He will make you think you are in love and that everything is the way it is meant to be – just perfect.

Once his mask drops and he changes into who he actually is and you learn that you have just been played. The lyrics “Look into his angel eyes/ You’ll think you’re in paradise/ And one day you’ll find out he wears a disguise” make this idea clear.

It is a warning that appearances are not as they seem. A young handsome man may seem truthful, but really he is deceitful. The lead vocalists warned his next girl: “It’s a game he likes to play.” Be aware.

Just because someone looks nice on the outside does not mean they are nice on the inside.

ABBA’s album “Voulez-Vous” was their sixth studio album and consisted of many songs that rose to the top of the charts. The songs on the album are perfectly suited to the disco era with their upbeat tunes and rhythm.

When the album was released on April 23, 1979, the album held five hit songs. Those hits included, “Chiquitita,” “Does Your Mother Know,” “I Have a Dream,” “Voulez-Vous,” and “Angel Eyes.” All of which became popular in Britain.

The song “Angel Eyes” is ABBA’s fourth song on their album and can be found on any streaming platform.
