When we feel alone, the sense of forever seems exhausting, but when we are able to find something or someone to love, forever cannot seem like enough time. We want to spend forever and beyond with things we love, exploring every piece of them.

Folk-Pop singer and songwriter Noah Kahan analyzes these feelings in his new song “Forever.”

“Forever” is the final song in Noah Kahan’s extended third album “Stick Season.” This was the final piece of the album that was originally released in 2022. The song “Forever” was added to this album on February 9, 2024.

Noah Kahan uses differing sounds to show his feelings of loneliness and emptiness transitioning into infatuation and bliss. This song describes someone feeling like forever is a terrifying, excruciating experience, but slowly comes to realize that forever is a beautiful thing when you have something to appreciate.

While most of Noah Kahan’s songs are ballads of heartbreak and loss, this song provides a change of pace showing a change of perspective on the world when falling in love.

He demonstrates his fear of forever when he sings, “When forever was a sentence, sentence to death,” but this changes through the song. The lyrics “That I broke a bone that never healed in my hand/So, when I hold her close, I might loosen my grip/But I won’t ever let her go” indicates that he is ready to stay with his love for as long as possible. The song continues “And, the edges of your soul, I haven’t seen yet/Now I’m glad I get forever to see where you went,” showing that he is thrilled for forever with her.

Noah Kahan’s album “Stick Season” rose to the top album in 2022 and has gained popularity since then. “Forever” is the final song on the album and can be found on all streaming platforms.
