Everybody wishes that in their lifetime it was all perfect, with everything going for them and nothing but positive vibes throughout the world and in their spaces. However, the world is not like that and as a part of life many people go through ups and downs.
These feelings of begging to stay in a place of peace and love are experimented upon in Ariana Grande’s song “No Tears Left to Cry” along with a pleading to rise above negativity.
The beginning of the song starts out slow and the background vocals make way for Grande’s angelic voice to really shine through. The vibe of the beginning makes the listener feel like the singer is pleaing to some out of this world entity.
The intro says, “Right now, I’m in a state of mind/I wanna be in like all the time/Ain’t got no tears left to cry.” This mantra is repeated many times throughout the song and really lingers in the listeners head by the end of it.
The song’s verses feature a much more fast-paced R&B aspect than the chorus. This switch is especially prevalent when the singer is referring to herself and this mystery person who is being referred to throughout the song.
Accompanied with the song is a breath-taking music video. In the video there is a part in the beginning where it introduces Grande’s voice in a very soulful and respected way and really captures the viewer’s attention.
The music video explores feelings of distortion shown through many different beautiful scenes featuring the singer standing on ceilings, tangled in lights, and many more. The video also explores a feeling of disillusionment, also portrayed through the lyrics.
