In life your people go through many different stages of relationships. One of the hardest and most frustrating stages of a relationship is the situationship. From mind games to being confused if the feelings are mutual can be confusing and extremely painful.
This is the theme for the song “The Color Violet” by Tory Lanez.
“The Color Violet” is the fourth song on the “Alone at Prom” album. The album continues the ideas of a situationship that plays mind games with him throughout prom.
In verse one Lanez starts off with, “We hit the highway, one-five-five with my whole foot on the dash/ She’s in my ear, she’s got no fear, she could care less if we crash.” On the way to prom, Lanez is speeding down the highway with a girl who is confidently flirting with him.
He continued the idea when he wrote, “She’s got my pager, blankets of love fall on my eyes/ Then I’m reminded, love don’t come ‘til you find it.” Lanez talks about how he is starting to fall in love with this girl, but is quickly reminded that this is just a game to her.
Lanez finishes this idea when in the chorus he wrote, “So I won’t dance again, oh baby/ No, I won’t dance again, oh yeah.” Lanez is using the metaphor of dancing to show that he does not want to play her mind games because he actually likes her.
I chose this song because this is one of my favorite songs to clear my head. With the fast-moving pace and flowy tone, it makes it a great song to listen to on a late night drive.
