Marino’s hit single “Hideaway” is about when someone runs into their comfort zone and the process of getting out of it. This song was released in 2025, and it is a hit single.

The song is sung in the first person and talks about how even as he tries to escape his comfort zone, he still finds himself stuck. He truly wants to be better and reach back to his friends but he cannot due to being stuck in that comfortable place.
In the first pre-chorus, Marino talks about how he cannot move and his friends are calling him. As his friends say “Where have you been?”, he responds with, “I’m busy, but I’m doing well in the city I built for myself.” This portion of the song is not only repeated but shows that his friends are not ignorant to their friend who is drawing back in on himself. The second portion is important because of how he even admits to them that he’s built this city all for himself to be comfortable and safe.
The first and only verse talks about how he wants to change and be different but his mind responds with “You’re gonna stay on this road on this broken path alone/And if you stray, I’ll find a way to get you right back on your own.” This response shows how hard it is to truly change for the better or try to get out of your own suffocation.
In the chorus, it talks about how his comfort zone has no longer served the purpose that it was supposed to. As Marino puts it, “my hideaway has became a prison that I can’t escape… I isolated from my friends, and now I wish I would’ve stayed/My hideaway can’t contain my pain.” This large portion of the song directly talks about how his comfort zone is hurting him and his relationships are being hurt more than helped.
I chose “Hideaway” by Marino because I find myself in my own hideaway. I realize later on in the song how much harm it is causing compared to the good.
Marino has been making music since 2019 and releasing his hit song “I’m doing fine” in 2024. Most people find his music to be similar to popular artist Boywithuke or better known as Chandol.
