In back-to-back games this week one record fell and a game ended in dramatic fashion in the rain.

Tuesday night, the Panthers (6-3) traveled to Creekside (1-8) and handily defeated them 10-1. Senior midfielder Kyle Ulversoy scored one goal and assisted in five others, breakg the all-time game assist record.

“It feels really cool to have broken the record,” Ulversoy said. “During the game I was not really thinking about it, but when someone told me after, I was really excited.”

Senior defender Patrick Spencer and sophomore forward Channing Park also had strong games, scoring three goals each.

“We were able to dominate Creekside throughout the entire game, allowing us to come away with the big win,” Spencer said.

Monday night’s home game against Northgate (3-3) was much more of a challenge for the Panthers. As rain poured down, Park scored the tying goal with six minutes to play in regulation, sending the game to penalty kicks.  The Panthers won on four successful kicks from Spencer, Park, sophomore midfielder Anthony Hoelle, and junior midfielder Walter Hix. Northgate had only two successful shots and the Panthers won 4-2.

“The sloppy weather was a difficult challenge during the game, and it caused our play to suffer,” coach Mike Hanie said. “As a team, the players need to do a better job finishing shots on offense and marking attackers on defense.”

The Panthers’ next home game is 7:55 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, as they try to stay undefeated in Region 4-AAAAA against undefeated Union Grove.
