On March 5, the Starr’s Mill tennis program continued its dominant run by defeating Griffin in a decisive showing. Both the girls and boys teams secured the three essential match victories to clinch the win. The boys remain unbeaten this season.
This latest match keeps the Panthers at the top of the rankings, proving that the team’s off-season preparation is paying off.
“I’m hoping to go undefeated this season,” senior Ben Edwards said. “We have a pretty good line up.”
After winning the Trojan Invitational for the first time in school history, the boys team now faces a grueling schedule with five matches in six days. After losing their first two matches of the season, the girls team has won its last three. They also face the same schedule this week.
“What we always want to be mindful of is injury,” first-year tennis head coach Katherine Tucker said. “We don’t want to overwork our players to the point of injury.”
After wins last night against Landmark, Starr’s Mill tennis travels to Northside-Columbus on March 11. Both teams will participate in the Granger Invitational on March 13-14.
