Varsity boys soccer intend to use last week’s Battle of the Bubble loss to McIntosh to focus on improvements before heading to playoffs.
“I thought today was a good day for us, because anytime you play McIntosh, it’s a playoff atmosphere. That was great because we have a lot of young players [….] who have never experienced something like that [….],” head coach Aaron Buck said. “Even though we lost, the experience is going to help us moving forward.”
Early in the game, McIntosh was in Panther territory with Starr’s Mill defense working hard from the start. The boys held the Chiefs to a single goal in the first half.
“I believe the team needs to work on communication [and] mindset,” junior Anthony Uribe said.
The Chiefs dominated the second half, adding four more goals en route to a 5-0 win.
Though five goals were scored, the Panther defense did put up a fight. Freshman Woodon Bowe particularly seemed to consistently attack opponents.
“This game has helped us understand what our weaknesses are,” freshman Zachary Larkin said. “We can use this game to look back on to help us figure out what we need to do.
Starr’s Mill travels to St. Pius X on April 24. The first round playoff matchup begins at 7:30 p.m.
