“Our mission is to be a good resource for helping students with their work,” Hanie said.

Students may go to the media center throughout the entire day to do their school work or to read. Hanie is present everyday to help students with their daily needs and to keep the media center organized.

“The media center is a great place to read during lunch,” junior Ryan Lodge said.

The media center provides a wide variety of book genres including fiction, biographies, references and nonfiction, as well as a quiet place for students to work and read in the center of the room. There are multiple study rooms and tables for students to work.

“Our goal is to be an instructional resource for the students and teachers,” Hanie said.

With online programs like Destiny and Galenet, students are able to find novels for leisure or conduct research for classes while teachers can check out Chromebook carts and educational videos. Hanie also assists teachers in making their lesson plans.

Hanie has worked at the Mill since it opened in 1997 and has been running the media center ever since. Hanie’s favorite thing about working in the media center is that she “enjoys watching students grow over their high school careers.”
