Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift has proven time and time again through her songwriting and hard work that she is the most talented artist in the world today.

She is commonly referred to as “The Music Industry,” and I cannot think of a better way to describe her.

She has released 196 songs either as a solo or featured artist. With the addition of re-recordings, writing credits, features, singles, and movie soundtracks, Swift has over 300 songs under her name. Her success does not stop there.

These tracks have earned her 435 awards, including 11 Grammys. She has set or broken numerous records. Her most recent feat is the release of three albums in one year, each of which reached No. 1, something that only The Beatles have accomplished.

When it comes to her brilliant song writing, Swift is able to bottle up any emotion and put it into words. Getting over a breakup? Driving in the car with friends? She’s got a song for that.

I believe that it is not only her beautiful vocals and catchy melodies that made her popular, but her ability to tell stories and connect with listeners set her apart from her “competition.” She has been playing guitar from the age of ten, and since then has learned to play piano, ukulele, and the banjo. She is, simply put, a musical genius.

Swift is able to bottle up any emotion and put it into words.

Through the use of of figurative language and poetic lyrics, Swift is able to leave listeners in contemplation even after the song has ended. Not only do her songs leave a lasting impression, but also her theatrical stage presence.

Swift and Kanye reportedly made amends after the 2019 incident at the VMAs, but it was not until seven years later that the drama resurfaced. In February 2016, Kanye West performed “Famous,” which includes the lyric, “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex. Why? I made that bitch famous.”

This provocative line shocked Swift’s fan base, including Swift herself. A video was later released of West and Swift talking over the phone prior to the release of the song, in which West asked is he could include the lyric saying they “might still have sex.” Swift gave him permission and thanked him for asking her first. However, there was no mention of calling her “that bitch” or asking for her consent to video the phone call. A look alike of Swift was featured in the music video “Famous,” nude and in bed with Kanye. Fans took sides, articles were written, and the friendship between West and Taylor ended.

In 2019, Scooter Braun, an infamous music and entertainment executive, bought Big Machine Record Group, Swift’s previous record label. With this purchase, Braun received ownership of her premiere album, “Taylor Swift”, through “reputation”. This was a major stab in the back for Swift. She believed that Braun was responsible for the majority of the Kanye West drama due to the fact that he was West’s manager at that time.

Swift has since made the decision to re-record the albums that Braun owns so that her hard work will be under her name, not his. While this may seem like an easy feat, it is a large amount of songs for her to re-record. In addition to the original songs on the album, she is also releasing songs “from the vault,” never-before-heard songs that were originally on the album, but were ultimately removed. Swift could’ve easily let Braun win, but after years and years of hard work, she deserved to have those songs under her name.

Swift has proven time and time again that she is a step above her competitors, including West. Although she has not been in the industry for as long as he has, she has used her time incredibly well influencing and telling stories to fans around the world.
