Junior Liam Vandergrinten has recently been listening to “Slump” by Dead Calm. 

“I just like the way it sounds,” Vandergrinten said. “The lyrics and everything are just different than anything else I have listened to.”

“Slump” is a track from Dead Calm’s newest album, “Keep Moving,” released in 2025. 

The song’s lyrics are specifically made to feel stuck and worn down like you would experience being in a slump. The man behind the stage name, Liam Macay, talks about being exhausted and overwhelmed in the song. Macay mentions wanting “something to get me out of this slump.”

Macay, the person behind the name Dead Calm, is a young Irish singer and songwriter. He was born in Galway and raised in Donegal, Ireland. He first started making music as a teenager in his bedroom and now has millions of monthly listeners across various streaming platforms. 

Macay has many stage names and projects in the works. His projects include “Sign Crushes,” “Motorist,” “Take Care,” “Moon Water,” and “Dead Calm.”
