Golden Apple – Madeline Rodriguez

October 2020

Madeline Rodriguez is this month’s recipient of the Golden Apple. She teaches Spanish III and AP Spanish at Starr’s Mill High School. September recipient Diane Ruane selected Rodriguez.

“I love to dance, [and] I love music,” Rodriguez said. “I incorporate these things into the class, so that [my students] can feel I really love what I do.”

Being a US Army wife, Rodriguez has lived in many places in the United States and in other countries. She has many degrees including a bachelor’s in science, a master’s in technology, and certification to teach Spanish.

As a Spanish teacher, Rodriguez supports her students by learning about hobbies and activities they enjoy outside of school.

“[I enjoy] being with the students and seeing how they progress, being there for them, supporting them, advocating for them,” Rodriguez said.

Rodriguez receives $100 from Farmers Insurance to spend on curriculum or instruction. She plans on spending her money on helping her students in the classroom. She also receives a free large pizza from Buck’s Pizza, a gift certificate to Lisa’s Creperie in Senoia, and a free haircut from Mane Hair in Peachtree City.
