This month’s Golden Apple recipient J.B Campbell with Farmers Insurance sponsor Tim Monahan. Campbell was chosen for his ability to challenge students.

This month’s Golden Apple recipient is math teacher J.B. Campbell. Science teacher Robin Huggins, last month’s Golden Apple recipient, selected Campbell for his ability to challenge students and still make sure they’re learning.

“Mr. Campbell is really quiet. He comes in and kind of stays in his own little corner,” Huggins said. “It seemed like time that teachers like that got some recognition.”

Huggins asked her senior students what teacher they would choose. She didn’t want them to pick someone who was necessarily the easiest teacher or who let them get away with the most. She wanted them to choose someone who really challenged them academically yet still helped them learn and cared about them.

“I guess the students really learn from my class,” Campbell said. “I’m glad they get so much out of it.”

Farmers Insurance gives each Golden Apple recipient $100 to spend in their classroom or for teaching necessities. Campbell has yet to decide how he will spend the funds.

Campbell will also receive one large pizza from Buck’s and a gift certificate for Lisa’s Crêperie in Senoia.  In addition, KenCan Wildlife Exclusion Service provided a gift certificate to Outback Steakhouse in Peachtree City, and Annie Derose-Broeckert from Keller Williams Realty donated a Carrabba’s gift certificate.
