Cover art of MUSINGS magazines from past years are displayed. “Its really interesting to see the different works of literature and art that students submit,” senior and editor-in-chief of MUSINGS Walker Allen said.

This year will mark the 13th volume of MUSINGS, Starr’s Mill’s award-winning literary-art magazine for creative works from students.

“A lot of students have great ideas and [MUSINGS] is a great outlet for them to use to put their art and writings for people to see,” English teacher and magazine co-adviser Jillian Bowen said.

Students can submit essays, poems, stories, research papers, drawings, paintings, and even sculptures. “Every submission is different and makes it difficult to choose from,” senior and editor-in-chief of MUSINGS Walker Allen said.

Submission forms can be found in every English classroom.  Entries for this year’s magazine should be returned before Feb. 17 to Bowen in room 706 or fellow co-adviser Justin Spencer in room 703.

MUSINGS has helped students gain confidence and inspired them to write more. Senior Luke Ninneman published a poem in last year’s edition of MUSINGS. “It was an awesome feeling seeing my poem in the magazine,” Ninneman said. “I felt extremely proud of my work.”
