“The most overwhelming key to a child’s success in school is the positive relationships he or she has with the adults in his life,” Oak Grove Elementary School Principal Felecia Spicer said. “The Harlem Wizards provide an opportunity for parents, teachers, and students to join together in an exciting environment to build those positive relationships, show school spirit, and have lots of fun together!”

Next week, the Harlem Wizards, a basketball team that travels around the country whose goal is to entertain crowds of people, will participate in a game to raise money for Oak Grove Elementary School’s PTO. Proceeds from the event will provide funding for a new gym and media center equipment, clinic supplies, and computer technology.

“As PTO President, I’m excited to be able to organize and offer this event to our Oak Grove and Fayette County community schools and friends,” Oak Grove PTO President Jennifer Cleland said.

There will be several police officers, fireman, local businessmen and even high school students suiting up for the Fayette Force team who will play against the Wizards.

The game will be on Oct. 5 at the Starr’s Mill High School gymnasium. Doors for the game will be open at 6 p.m. with the actual event beginning at 7 p.m.

Prices at the door will be ten dollars for students and senior citizens, and general admission will be twelve dollars. The concession stand will be open, and the Wizards will sell a variety of memorabilia items. Anyone planning on attending the game is encouraged to buy tickets in advance at through the Harlem Wizards website.

“Everyone in the community is invited to participate,” Cleland said.
