PBIS has announced the Staff Member and Students of the Month for November.
Fellow co-workers and paraprofessional Jamila Evelyn nominated assistant principal Amy Evert as November’s Staff Member of the Month. She was nominated for her exceptional kindness to everyone and being a prime example of treating others how you want to be treated.
“She meets students on their level and treats them with respect,” Evelyn said. “She also goes out of her way to develop and maintain personal relationships with her colleagues.”
Other staff members nominated were assistant principal secretary Laura Leigh French, administrative secretary Cassie Parker, principal secretary Lesie Frey, math teacher Heather McNally, learning specialist Rosann Patterson, paraprofessional Jamila Evelyn, coach Chase Penland, and bookkeeper Brenda Adams.
Math teacher Tony Kleumper nominated senior Israel Gedeon as November’s Upperclassman of the Month. Gedeon was chosen because of his hard work and willingness to stay before and after school to fully understand certain concepts.
“Israel is a really really really hard worker,” Kleumper said. “He’s in my room before and after school all the time working to make sure he understands the calculus techniques.”
Other upperclassmen nominated were juniors Mattie Arnold and Maggie Mendez, and senior London Fields.
Math teacher Heather McNally nominated freshman Charlotte Tatum as November’s Underclassman of the Month. Tatum was chosen because of her hard work and positive attitude in class.
“She is an awesome student. Even when she doesn’t understand things she never gives up,” McNally said. “She’s a really, really hard worker.”
Other underclassmen nominated were freshmen Asher Brown, Micah Davis, and Gavin Guarino, and sophomores Jamison Kruse and Tate Shively.
Once a month, science teacher and PBIS coach Samantha Krage sends out a link to the staff so that they can nominate teachers and students on their good mannerism. The PBIS committee, composed of Krage and other staff, vote on Staff Member and Students of the Month.
