Senior Alayna Burdekin crowned Miss Starr’s Mill

The 2018 Miss Starr’s Mill Scholarship Pageant took place on Jan. 5-6 in Willie Duke Auditorium. At the end of the two-day competition, senior Alayna Burdekin was crowned Miss Starr’s Mill 2018.

The pageant began with 19 contestants from all four grade levels, but the judges narrowed it to 11 finalists for the final night of competition.  Generally the judges have to choose from ten finalists, but two of the girls tied making this year’s final number of constants eleven.

Of the finalists, Burdekin was crowned Miss Starr’s Mill 2018 followed by Miss Starr’s Mill’s Outstanding Teen 2018 and first runner-up junior Sarah Dorr, second runner-up Gracen O’Neal, third runner-up sophomore Sydney Turnier, and fourth runner-up junior Alyson Phinney.

 

Preliminary awardees included:

Miss Congeniality – senior Alayna Burdekin

Casual wear – junior Sarah Dorr

Talent – senior Alayna Burdekin

Evening wear – junior Sarah Dorr

 

Non-finalist winners included:

Interview – junior Emma Posey

Talent – sophomore Brooke Barkley
